Enjoy a peaceful ride over the farm country of southwest Michigan. Our balloon holds 2 adults. Great for a couple, anniversary, birthday, or a bucket-list flight. Flights last about 45–60 minutes with a celebratory toast afterward.
A taste of flight for you and your event guests. Tethered rides last 2–3 minutes and rise about 50 feet. The basket holds two at a time, so about 24 people per hour. $1,600 for the first hour, $700 each hour after.
Want a hot air balloon at your event, or wedding photos inside the basket? We'll bring the balloon to your event for an hour, standing upright or inflated on the ground, for photos or a stunning backdrop.
Hot air ballooning depends entirely on the weather, so we don't book fixed dates for standard rides. Instead, you join our booking list and we reach out when a good weather window opens up. There's no deposit and no payment up front. You only pay after a successful flight.

When a good flying opportunity appears, we'll contact you, usually about three days in advance, to confirm.
No problem. We move to the next person on the list, and you stay near the top to be contacted first for the next flight.

2024Michigan Scenic Ballooning was started to share the joy of ballooning with others. We're based in Plainwell, and depending on the wind we may launch from Otsego, Martin, Allegan, or other nearby towns.
Landon began ballooning when his parents bought a balloon when he was just 4 years old. He crewed for his dad for years, started training at 14, earned his private pilot's license at 21 and his commercial license at 22. He founded Michigan Scenic Ballooning in 2022 and has flown many passenger flights since.
Samantha married into ballooning and became the crew chief for Michigan Scenic Ballooning. She's the ground boss: she instructs the crew, helps inflate and launch, chases during the flight, and packs the balloon away after landing.
As a team, we travel competing and showcasing our balloons at festivals most of the summer. It's always refreshing to come back home and share ballooning with passengers, and see the excitement and joy that flight brings everyone. Landon Kohtz, Pilot

Our newest balloon and a true racer. More streamlined than the BRB, with better vertical control, though it lifts less weight. Think of it as the sports car to our ride balloon's bus.
